When does Kevin recommend something that earns him nothing?

Short answer

Often, and the examples are specific. He tells viewers to buy QQQM and SPYM before anything he sells. He tells them to charter rather than own a plane, having owned one. He tells businesses to subcontract rather than hire crews, having lost over $300,000 on a crew. He tells people to ask how their banker is paid, having fired his. He publishes the wrong 2022 call. None of that sells a course or earns a commission, which is the point of listing it. 123

  • Index funds: QQQM, SPYM (before his own picks)

  • Aircraft: Charter (after owning one)

  • Construction: Subcontract (after losing over $300,000 on a crew)

  • Banking: Ask about comp (after leaving JP Morgan)

Index funds

Kevin’s account

With the rise of ultra-cheap market index ETFs, I now encourage people to consider QQQM and SPYM first, and to take concentrated positions only when they are diversified against other assets. 1

This is the man who ran a stock-picking ETF telling people to buy the index instead. It earns him nothing and undercuts the premise of a stock course.

Planes and crews

Kevin’s account

Aviation is a business tool you use only when you are sharp and capable. Otherwise, subcontract it: use a jet charter company. From the construction company, net-net: subcontract everything. 2

Both are lessons from expensive mistakes he describes as his own, and both point away from the flashy choice.

Banks

What viewers should take from this: ask how your banker is actually compensated, and know that the research and special products are often not for you. 3

The limit

He recommends no competing course, newsletter or creator, and this site found no instance of it. Fair to note.

Index funds, charter flights, subcontractors and a question for your banker. None of it pays him, all of it is on the record. 123

Simply put

✅ The list

  • ➡️ Buy the cheap index before you buy anything he sells.

  • ➡️ Do not buy a plane. Charter.

  • ➡️ Do not hire a crew. Subcontract.

  • ➡️ Ask your banker how they get paid.

✅ Why it matters

  • ➡️ A salesman who tells you to buy the cheaper thing sometimes is at least not only a salesman.
