Short answer

Yes. As a teenager in South Florida he joined a law-enforcement explorer program and logged about 3,000 hours of ride-alongs; the Sun-Sentinel covered the program in September 2008. After moving to California he found the experience did not transfer, in part because he did not speak Spanish, and he pivoted to real estate. He says he remains interested in criminal justice. 12

  • Hours: ~3,000 (ride-alongs as a teen explorer)

  • Covered by: Sun-Sentinel (September 28, 2008)

  • Outcome: Real estate (after moving to California at 17)

The record

Profiles and a 2008 Sun-Sentinel article place Kevin in a South Florida law-enforcement explorer program as a teenager, with roughly 3,000 hours of ride-alongs. 1

Kevin’s account

Kevin’s account

As an explorer I really got to know my South Florida neighborhoods. After moving to California I hit a severe cultural shift, and without Spanish my law-enforcement experience did not transfer. So I pivoted to climbing the job ladder instead. Policing ended up being an extracurricular I tried, though I found I was interested in criminal justice. 2

What stayed

He credits three things for his respect for checklists and procedure: the explorer years, the securities exams, and pilot training. The company’s compliance record, including a nine-month SEC review that closed with no action, is where he says it shows.

In his own videos

  • October 2023: about 3,000 hours of ride-alongs. 3

  • February 2025: about 1,500 hours on the road with law enforcement. The two figures are his own, two years apart; both are printed. 4

Three thousand hours in a patrol car before he could vote. He walked away when the skills did not travel, and the checklists came with him. 12

Simply put

✅ The program

  • ➡️ Police explorers ride along and train with real officers. Kevin did about 3,000 hours of it.

  • ➡️ A Florida newspaper wrote about the program in 2008.

✅ Why he stopped

  • ➡️ He moved to California, where the neighborhoods and the language were different.

  • ➡️ He decided to climb the job ladder instead, and that ladder was real estate.
