Short answer

He is a longtime Tesla shareholder, owner and critic. At Tesla’s May 2023 annual meeting he was the shareholder who asked Elon Musk why Tesla would not try advertising; Musk answered that Tesla would try a little and see how it goes, and TechCrunch named Kevin as the questioner. He believes Tesla’s low-power mode and the return of the center steering-wheel horn followed his public complaints, but calls that circumstantial with no documented causation. He drives a Cybertruck and installed Tesla solar and Powerwalls. His ETF held Tesla heavily from about $190. 12

  • Advertising question: May 2023 (documented by TechCrunch)

  • Musk's answer: "Try a little" (and see how it goes)

  • Horn and low-power mode: Circumstantial (no documented causation)

  • Owns: Cybertruck, solar, Powerwalls (and Tesla stock)

The advertising question

At Tesla’s 2023 annual shareholder meeting on May 16, Kevin asked Elon Musk from the floor why Tesla would not try advertising. Musk’s reply, as reported: we will try a little advertising and see how it goes. TechCrunch’s report of the meeting named Kevin as the questioner. Tesla ran its first ads later that year. 1

Two things he will not claim

Kevin’s account

I believe Tesla’s low-power mode and the return of the center steering-wheel horn came after I complained about both on Twitter, but that is circumstantial. The changes followed my complaints; there is no documented causation. 2

Investor and owner

His ETF bet heavily on Tesla from around $190 a share. During the fund’s compliance process he says the fund’s issuer pushed him to lower the Tesla allocation even though the rules did not require it; that dispute is on its own page. He drives a Cybertruck and installed Tesla solar panels and Powerwalls, while remaining critical of parts of the business. 2

In his own videos

  • August 2026: he has been at the Tesla shareholder meetings and convinced Elon to advertise Tesla features. 3

  • September 2025: the horn button. He hit the brakes, reached for the horn, and found they had killed the horn button. 4

  • September 2026: he still owns his Cybertruck, the Cyberbeast, and calls it one of his favorite cars. 5

In his own videos

  • August 19, 2019: Tesla Solar and the Scam Solar Panel Business, years before he installed Tesla solar himself. 6

One documented influence, the advertising question, and two he calls circumstantial. A fan who buys the products and criticizes the company. 12

Simply put

✅ The documented one

  • ➡️ At the 2023 shareholder meeting Kevin asked Musk why Tesla did not advertise. Musk said they would try. TechCrunch printed his name.

✅ The maybes

  • ➡️ He complained on Twitter about the horn and about a low-power mode. Tesla later changed both. He says that could be coincidence.

✅ The rest

  • ➡️ Big Tesla position in his ETF from about $190. Drives a Cybertruck. Solar on the roof.
