Short answer

Kevin was born in Germany, in Velbert near Düsseldorf by his own account and Wuppertal per Wikipedia, and his family moved to South Florida when he was a toddler; Kevin settles it at 13 months. He grew up in Broward County, moved to Ventura, California at 17 to finish high school, and has lived in Ventura ever since. Reinvest’s offices are in Ventura. 123

Kevin was born in Wuppertal, a city in western Germany, on January 28, 1992. German public broadcaster Tagesschau profiled him during the 2021 campaign under the headline, roughly, “How Kevin from Germany wants to become governor.” 1

Florida

His family moved to the United States when he was 13 months old, first to Naples and then to Aventura, Weston Hills, Plantation and Davie. He grew up in Broward County, attended Western High School, worked his first jobs at the Broward County Mall, and spent about 3,000 hours as a teenage police explorer in South Florida. 12

At 17 he moved to Ventura with about $1,000 to live with his girlfriend Lauren’s family and finish high school at Buena.   • February 2024, to Patrick Bet-David: born in Germany, moved to the U.S. at 13 months, from a small town called Velbert just outside Düsseldorf. Wikipedia gives Wuppertal, the neighboring city; Velbert sits between the two. His own statement is the one printed first here. 6
